Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before using Veridex.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing, accessing, or using the Veridex browser extension ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and Veridex. Your continued use of the Service after any modifications to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Description of the Service
Veridex is a browser extension that provides phishing risk indicators and analysis for web-based email clients (such as Gmail and Outlook Web).
Important clarifications about what Veridex does and does not do:
- Veridex provides advisory risk assessments only
- Veridex does not block emails, quarantine messages, or prevent user actions
- Final decisions regarding any email or communication always remain with you
Veridex is a decision-support tool designed to help you identify potentially suspicious communications. It is not a security enforcement system and should not be treated as one.
3. No Professional or Security Guarantees
Veridex does not guarantee detection of all phishing attempts, fraud, or malicious communications. No security tool can provide complete protection against all threats.
You acknowledge and accept that:
- False positives are possible: Legitimate emails may occasionally be flagged as suspicious
- False negatives are possible: Malicious emails may not be detected or flagged
- Detection is not guaranteed: Phishing techniques evolve, and no tool can identify every threat
- Advisory nature: All risk assessments are advisory and not definitive determinations
The risk indicators provided by Veridex are intended to assist your decision-making, not replace your judgment. You should always exercise caution and apply your own assessment to any communication, regardless of the risk level indicated by Veridex.
4. User Responsibilities
As a user of Veridex, you are responsible for:
- Verifying sensitive requests independently: Before acting on any request involving payments, credentials, personal data, or other sensitive information, verify the request through a separate, trusted channel
- Not relying on Veridex as your sole security control: Veridex should be used as one component of a broader security approach, not as your only protection against phishing or fraud
- Exercising your own judgment: Final decisions about how to respond to any email or communication remain your responsibility
- Maintaining other security practices: Continue to follow security best practices, including using strong passwords, enabling multi-factor authentication, and keeping your software updated
Remember: Veridex is a decision-support tool, not a security enforcement system. The responsibility for your security decisions remains with you.
5. Use of Automated and AI-Based Analysis
Veridex may use automated analysis, including machine learning or AI-based models, to assist in risk assessment.
You understand and acknowledge that:
- AI output is advisory and intended to support, not replace, your judgment
- AI analysis may be unavailable or incomplete at times due to technical limitations, service disruptions, or other factors
- When AI analysis fails or is unavailable, Veridex may fall back to manual-review recommendations
- AI-based analysis may produce errors, false positives, or false negatives
For detailed information about how your data is handled during AI analysis, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Veridex only for its intended purpose and in compliance with all applicable laws. You may not:
- Reverse engineer the Service: Attempt to decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, or otherwise derive the source code, underlying algorithms, or structure of the Service
- Interfere with backend systems: Attempt to gain unauthorized access to, interfere with, or disrupt the Service's backend infrastructure, servers, or networks
- Misuse the Service for unlawful purposes: Use the Service to facilitate any illegal activity, violate any laws, or infringe on the rights of others
- Submit malicious input: Submit content, data, or input designed to manipulate, deceive, or exploit the analysis systems, including attempts to poison data, inject prompts, or circumvent security measures
- Circumvent usage limits: Attempt to bypass any rate limits, usage restrictions, or access controls implemented by the Service
Violation of these acceptable use terms may result in suspension or termination of your access to the Service.
7. Availability and Modifications
Veridex is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service.
We reserve the right to:
- Change, suspend, or discontinue any features of the Service at any time
- Rate-limit, modify, or disable AI features without prior notice
- Perform maintenance that may temporarily affect availability
- Update the Service to address security issues, bugs, or other concerns
We will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of significant changes where practicable, but this is not guaranteed. Your continued use of the Service after any modifications constitutes acceptance of those modifications.
8. Intellectual Property
The Veridex Service, including all software, algorithms, designs, text, graphics, logos, and other content, is owned by Veridex or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.
These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. This license does not include the right to:
- Modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the Service
- Copy, reproduce, or distribute the Service or any part of it
- Sublicense, sell, resell, or transfer your rights to use the Service
- Use any Veridex trademarks, logos, or branding without written permission
All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved by Veridex.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Veridex expressly disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including but not limited to:
- Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
- Warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or timeliness of risk assessments
- Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Warranties that the Service will detect all phishing attempts, fraud, or malicious communications
You use the Service at your own risk. Veridex does not warrant that the Service will meet your specific requirements or expectations.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Veridex shall not be liable for any:
- Missed phishing attempts or undetected malicious communications
- Financial loss or damages resulting from phishing, fraud, or other security incidents
- Business interruption or loss of business opportunities
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill
- Damages arising from your reliance on the Service or any risk assessment provided
These limitations apply regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise) and even if Veridex has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
In jurisdictions where limitation of liability for certain damages is not permitted, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator maintains its principal place of business, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts and waive any objection to venue in such courts.
